Discover Fiji’s Waters

Top 5 Water Fun Activities

How does snorkelling in Fiji sound? Or is sipping cocktails by the beach more your type of holiday? For the beach lovers or adventure seekers, Fiji is the right destination for you. Our Helloworld travel agents give you their best insider tips of the best activities by or on the water.

1. Experience safari jet-boating

When most people think of Fiji, they think of powder-soft white-sand beaches.  Explore Viti Levu’s Sigatoka River thanks to a thrilling jet-safari boat ride that’s combined with visiting a local village to enjoy it’s culture and a Fijian lunch.

2. Take a day cruise to surrounding islands

Always wanted to follow in Tom Hanks’ footsteps? Run around the white sands of the uninhabited Modriki Island where Hanks famously bonded with his “friend” Wilson in the classic film Castaway.

Day cruises that include Modriki on the itinerary depart from Port Denarau near Nadi. Other day cruises from Port Denarau include visiting Malamala Beach Club – said to be the first in the world to occupy an entire island. The club featured in the 2017 season of The Bachelorette as the place where Sophie Monk chose her beau.

3. Discover famous dive sites

If diving’s your thing, head to the Somosomo Strait, between Vanua Levu and the garden island of Taveuni. Guides who know the island currents can help you find the best time of day for exploring the famous dive site Rainbow Reef as well as the Great White Wall.

Hover above colourful coral gardens and incredible marine creatures.

4. Surf Viti Levu’s beginner waves

Fiji is a magnet for surfers but what if you’re just starting out? Beginners should point themselves towards Natadola on Viti Levu’s Coral Coast. This resort beach, an hour’s drive from Nadi, features a small shore break that’s good for body surfing and surfers who are just starting out.

5. Snorkel on Vanua Levu island

With its pristine blue waters and  marine life, Fiji is one of the world’s best places to snorkel. At Savusavu on the island of Vanua Levu, you can snorkel on a small reef  with local dive operators just offshore to see corals and fish. If you want to see turtles, make sure the boat’s destinations include Turtle Alley.
